In a freedom-based enterprise, there is no accountability for anything at all without agreements. I am not accountable for what you say or think I should do, regardless of who or what you are; I am accountable for that which I have agreed to do.
Slavery, whether or not the slaves are paid money, is characterized by the invariant belief that I *am* accountable for what my owners say I must do, and I suffer and by my sufferance extend all the practices attending thereto.
Inviting, opting in, and all the freedom of walking through the door when invited, or crossing a boundary into a type of institutional or corporate state, is critically important; but it is just a buncha bullshit window dressing if :
1. we have no means to freely decide together the things best left to us to decide;
2. we have no understanding of interpersonal alignment, nor any practices to routinely and frequently create and maintain aligned states;
3. we seek no further development of our personal capabilities for ever-maturing and increasingly intimate collaboration;
4. we form neither vast, nor compelling, nor triumphant visions to share;
5. we seek no further virtue;
6. we surrender all our freedoms on the altar of professionalism and financial security;
7. we neither aggregate our IQs, nor combine our creative energies, nor devotedly pursue together our most sublime passions;
8. and we thereby create a future like our past : a time of terrible discord springing from our own absent nobility.
The issue is not whether agile or scrum and/or their related principalities, *invite* us (or not), critical though that may be; the issue is whether the enterprise in question is a new type of free state or if it persists indefinitely – and with our full compliance – as the slave state it is.
