I am very much enjoying a Netflix series in Japanese, called “Atelier.”
The acting and script are very stylized and iconic. Manga-like in many ways. Yet the show is all about fashion, lingerie, and women in business. In Japan. By Netflix. Whoa. Such a terrific, 21st century melange.
I see a future here.
“Atelier” is actually about personal – and product – development, beauty, truth, and essentials of commerce, work, passion, love and the stages of the creative life. I love it. I feel like I have been working on these ideas all my life, and now, here it is.
I think it is very futuristic and yet very pure and old fashioned.
Gobs of truth and heart.
I laugh aloud and tear up or even cry at every episode, uncertain whether I am just senescent, or maybe wise, or maybe just showing a sane level of my own humanity.
Like Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. An unexpected encounter with greatness, power, and grace.
Please watch it, and let me know if I am nuts to be nuts about it.
